It is still unfinished but after a site meeting this morning + some photos from the last couple of weeks – it's time to post:
I've shown the photo (above) before. The photo below is showing the side of the house (to the right of the house). It has been painted black (see below). As you can see, the cladding (raw sugar gum 'bricks') sit on battens on the wall. Over time, they will dry, shrink and grey off.
The aim is to mimic the bluestone bricks of the house a few doors away from us. The shape of the front of our houses are the same and this was done to overcome the heritage overlay restrictions we had with demolishing and designing in this area. It's a modern take on an old design. I quite thrilled.

| Photo taken from the road. And who can spot the roof? Did you see the roof? There is a roof! |
Okay – now for the really cool stuff... when we went to the site meeting this morning, they were charring the horizontal wood you see on the side here... the side and back of the house will be charred, as will the bike shed. The guy charring was enjoying himself so much he seemed to be forgetting to go for his smoke break! Maybe the charring smoke was enough...

Wow, that is looking fantastic! Isn't it amazing how different it looks as it comes together?
